A REFLECTION ON OUR SCHOOL MUSICAL

This years musical ‘The Sound of Music’ , was a huge success. We began the auditions back in October. It was a nerve wracking experience and although a few were disappointed, there was a huge relief when the musical was cast as it meant we could all get to work.

The musical is an old family favourite for many, and with the cast ranging in ages groups from 1st-5th years new friendships blossomed from the musical despite the age gaps.

Teamwork was a big part of the musical in all areas including the cast, set design, programs, construction and most importantly stage management. The Musical would not have been possible without all the help and guidance from Ms.Gill, Ms.Kennelly and Mr. John Flatley

Although the push was on towards the end, alot of tea, biscuits and craic kept everyone calm.

When it came to the final days of the show there were mixed emotions. Everyone was excited, but in the back of everyone's mind was once the curtain closed on Saturday night, it’d be back to class on Monday morning.

The public loved our show. Some locals attended the show numerous times. Friends and families of our very own stars, traveled from afar to witness the talent that Sancta Maria College holds.

There is a sense of sadness in the corridors these days, especially for the TY’S who dedicated all their time in the last few months to this project. The musical will be greatly missed and was by far the best experience of the year for the transition year students.
